APSS Opioid Overdose prevention Program
If you or someone you know is using opioids and would benefit from extra support, here is how we can help:
- Connect you with our Peer Support Worker
- Assist in getting you in addictions treatment and recovery programs
- Help with housing, food, and clothing
- Refer you to other agencies or medical professionals if needed
- Alleviate your fears and educate you on what comes next
- Advocate for you
- Complete confidentiality
Our Opioid Overdose Prevention Program employs a Registered Social Worker as a Client Care Coordinator to assist those using opioids while living in the community. The Client Care Coordinator supports and connects clients with appropriate resources to help address their needs. This includes, but is not limited to, housing supports, physical and mental health supports, addictions treatment and recovery programs, food and clothing resources and a peer support worker.
The Client Care Coordinator works with clients using a harm reduction approach to educate clients on the risks associated with opioid use, and how to respond in an overdose situation.
The goal of the AOOPP is to help address the overdose crisis we are currently facing. By providing education, client care and peer support, we hope to reduce the amount of opioid overdose hospitalizations and deaths, while increasing naloxone training and kit distribution and referrals to recovery programs.
Contact our Client Care Coordinator at opsupport@apssregina.ca or 306-924-8420.
